jatin byala
founder
NSR Liber is the brainchild of Jatin Byala, the man behind some of India’s most prominent alcobev brands. He made a name for himself as one of the original founder members of erstwhile Seagram’s.
Jatin built and executed the company’s industry-leading CSD (military) strategy, distinguishing himself as a key player in the emerging Indian alcobev industry in the ’90s. As Vice President of Operations, he was responsible for transforming the South and East markets from the bottom of the pyramid into key markets that generated nearly a third of the company’s turnover. As Vice President of External Affairs, he was instrumental in managing the external business environment for the organisation.
In 2010, Jatin drew the curtain on a long and illustrious corporate career to pursue his passion: creating powerful new brands. His ambition was matched by his core team, a perfect balance of veteran experience and vibrant energy. NSR Liber was born in 2015, a company dedicated to developing world-class brands across multiple categories through industry-leading manufacturing and blending techniques. After years of extensive R&D into packaging and product development, the company is primed to make its mark in the Indian spirits market.
Dr. Virender Sheorain
Master Blender & Head of Manufacturing
Dr. Sheorain has over 40 years of industry experience, having worked at Boots at Hindustan Lever before entering the alcoholic beverages industry. As the Head of Research and Development of Pernod Ricard India (erstwhile Seagram India), he was responsible for the creation, blending, and sourcing of ingredients for some of the biggest liquor brands in the world.
Following his role at Pernod Ricard India, he worked for National Rum of Jamaica as Head of Operations, where he set up a modern distillation facility and was directly responsible for the making of Jamaican pot still rums like Myers and Captain Morgan. He later joined Shanghai Longman Liquor Ltd as Master Blender where he created several blends and brands for the Chinese market.
Dr. Sheorain holds a doctorate in biochemistry from JIPMER, Chandigarh and has done post-doctoral research at prestigious universities and medical schools in the US and around the world. He holds 8 patents, has published numerous papers, and is visiting faculty at several colleges and universities.
Avnish Misra
Director - Finance
Avnish has over 23 years of experience in operational and strategic finance. He started his career at blue-chip firms like PwC, EY, and KPMG, and has also worked at Jubilant Oil & Gas on their AIM listing.
At Berkeley Energy, a PE firm in renewable space, Avnish managed the portfolio of companies and evaluation of new investments for India and Philippines. He was also part of the Board of Directors. A stint at Simpa Networks offered hands-on experience with rural retail and building startups, where he led supply chain, credit, debt, finance, with equity raise.
Since 2018, Avnish has been involved with multiple startups in various roles, such as that of founder and advisor. He is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI and has done his graduation from Delhi University.
